Differences between Google Ads and Facebook Ads

Before going into details, you have to understand what each one is.

Google Ads. | Differences between Facebook Ads and Google Ads

Google Ads (or as we all used to call it Google Adwords) is nothing more than paid search results. It is the world’s largest and most popular PPC advertising platform. And for those who don’t know anything about it, these are the first results that appear in Google when we search for a specific term.

For example, if we search for: “hotel in new york” the first result that appears is paid (Ads) and is clearly marked as “ad”.

Paid search in search engines (Google, Bing …) focuses on targeting keywords and using text-based ads. The advertiser pays for keywords so that their ads will show up when people search for a particular phrase. Each time a user clicks on an ad, the advertiser is charged a certain amount of money, that is why its called “pay per click advertising” (PPC).

Currently, Facebook has 2.3 billion monthly active users, making it an excellent place to attract new customers. Facebook Ads appear on Facebook’s feed and different spaces in this social network. Facebook ads are often embedded directly into the news feed and viewed like a regular post. These types of ads are generally intended to generate clicks but there are also other options that allow you to advertise in the right sidebar, on the mobile news feed, and even using video ads. Carousel Ads allow companies to display a variety of product in a single ad.

Advertising on social networks helps users find companies based on the things that interest them and the way they behave online. Facebook’s advertising platform allows you to configure all kinds of campaigns with different types of ads to help capture the user’s attention.

Differences between the two advertising platforms

+ The platforms are different. In one, it is auctioned based on the word or search term and in the other, it is based on the click of the ad and the profile settings.

+ The intention of the user. The google user actively searches for you by putting a keyword in the search engine. On Facebook, users are not looking for your product or service.

+ Targeting on Facebook is much more powerful than on Google. On Facebook, one can detail all kinds of characteristics of your buyer persona to show them the ad.

+ Price per click. Facebook offers access to a very wide audience at a very competitive price.

Which is better Google Ads or Facebooks Ads

Is one better than the other? The answer depends on the company’s goals and budget.

+ If you want to sell, get leads, registrations, etc…. both platforms will be perfect for that.

+ If you want to make yourself known (branding) or to be followed on the networks, we recommend Facebook (and Instagram).

+ If you want to sell products directly, Google Ads is probably the place to be.

+ If you want to generate leads at a good price, Facebook is the best since it allows you to pay for the lead, and not for the click.
